Title: Recipe for Data Scientist – Case Study: Introduction of Retty Store Recommendation System Development Project
Speaker: Mr. Jiro Iwanaga (Representative Director, Eldos Corporation / Specially Appointed Professor, The University of Electro-Communications)
Abstract: In addition to introducing the position of data scientist, this presentation will describe a project to develop a restaurant recommendation system at Retty, Inc. Retty provides a social gourmet service that disseminates restaurant information based on real-name user postings, and its website and It utilizes a variety of algorithms to enhance the restaurant recommendation function on its application. In this presentation, the presenter will introduce a recommendation project he was involved in while at Retty (with special permission). He will report with specific case studies on how he utilized various techniques including collaborative filtering, graph algorithms, bandit algorithms, and Elastic Net regression to build recommendation logic, and how he evaluated and improved its effectiveness. Decision-making processes and challenges in data science practice will also be touched upon to share practical insights.
